Matt Monday to Perform at Charleston Pour House

[Charleston, SC-Sept. 9] On Thursday, Oct. 9, Matt Monday will return to Charleston for a homecoming concert, with expectations to sell out the Charleston Pour House.

“I’m excited about returning home and performing with other acts on the bill… I hope we pack out the Pour House,” says Matt Monday.

This will be Monday’s first local concert since the Righchus Renaissance last held in 2011 at the Music Farm. Not shortly after, he relocated to New York and dropped “Righchus” as his stage name—with his fans never expecting it to be his last concert in Charleston for a while.

“The Righchus Renaissance was my first time seeing him in concert,” said Eric Harvey, a 2011 attendee, of the Performing and Visual Arts Festival. “That night, his team also surprised him for his birthday.”

Monday will celebrate his twenty-six birthday four days prior to the event. However, he doesn’t expect another surprise this time around. “My team is working very hard with S.W.I.M,” he added.

“We are preparing for the release of the Filthy EP, and a short film to also be released this year. But, right now I’m just happy about coming back home, and performing some of my new music for the first time.”

Needless to say, Monday found his way back to the hip hop scene through a fiery single called “The Lomax, “produced by Yung Gud. In a June news release, his manager said that “The Lomax” was a re-introduction to Monday.”

“Matt’s been gone for a while, so he came back with a lot to get off his chest,” said Randy Roper. ” ‘The Lomax’ is a fresh start, a new beginning that says [he’s] back for the first time.”

Presented by Southern Wealth In Music (S.W.I.M) Group and, the official media sponsor, Monday will perform live with DJ Luis Skye and the following acts:

Ben Fagan & the Holy City Hooligans (Funk/Reggae/Hip Hop)

New Galaxy (Funk/ R-n-B)

Oxymoron (Hip Hop)

Savage Souls (Hip-Hop)

Damn Skippy (Hip-Hop)

The show will begin at 9 p.m. Admission is $10. The Charleston Pour House is located on James Island at 1977 Maybank Highway in.

Proceeds from the concert, will be donated to H1GHER LEARNING, a non-profit organization that rewards the academic excellence of at-risk students by rewarding them with sneakers. Since January 2014 H1GHER LEARNING has provided over 100 pairs of brand new and hard-to-find sneakers as a reward to at-risk students for their academic prowess
