[Columbia, SC—July 31] HairWalk: The Movement returns to the Midlands for its third annual Runway Show. On Saturday, Aug. 15, over 100 men, women, and children will take the runway at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
Hosted by Courtney King and Jeffery Lampkin of WACH FOX 57, HairWalk, will feature Fall/Winter fashion from emerging designers and major retailers. At 8 p.m., professional models, designers, hairstylists, and make-up artists will “fight cancer with style” through a high energy runway show.
“HairWalk has become a platform for the community to celebrate the survivor’s battle against cancer,”said Alisa Barnes, Hair Walk Director.“The highlight of our show is the Survivor’s Walk which showcases local cancer survivors inthe latest style and fashion.”
Since its inception, HairWalk has donated over $6,500 to cancer based organizations throughout the Midlands and Charlotte, North Carolina. For the 2015 fiscal year, the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) has been named HairWalk’s charity beneficiary and partner. YSC is a global organization that consists of young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. YSC offers resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful.
“It excites me to support the Young Survival Coalition,” Barnes expressed. “Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to attend events hosted by the Columbia Chapter. I want everyone to become familiar with the mission of this organization … the level of support and encouragement that these women give each other is beyond amazing.”
Preceding the runway show, sponsors and VIP ticket holders are invited to the Pink Tie Reception. This event recognizes men diagnosed with breast cancer, while also honoring the husbands, fathers, brother and sons that stand in support of women affected by breast cancer.
