Sneaker Gala to be held during ‘Carlos Cares Weekend’

[Charleston, SC—June 3] The Carlos Dunlap Foundation will hold the Art + Sole Sneaker Gala at the Charleston Visitors Center on Friday, June 10. This will come as an inaugural event of Carlos Cares Weekend— a three-day event to celebrate the foundation’s philanthropic services.

Over the last decade, Carlos Cares Weekend has evolved from the NFL Defensive End’s single-day football camp to a weekend experience for student athletes and tri-county families. This year’s weekend lineup is as follows:

Friday, June 10th

8am-2pm | One & Dun Business Bootcamp | Royal Missionary Church |A one-day event to for students ages 12-18 to learn basic business skills while from Charleston-based executives, moguls, and entrepreneurs.

8pm-11pm | Art + Sole Sneaker Gala | The Charleston Visitors Center | An evening affair featuring art, live entertainment, Gullah storytelling, and more (Ages 21+ for full/open bar experience).

Saturday, June 11th

8am-1pm | Lowcountry Football & Cheer Camp | Fort Dorchester Highschool | 10th Annual football and cheer camp for ages 6-12. This event is hosted by Carlos Dunlap and NFL Friend Robert Quinn (Chicago Bears)

Sunday, June 12th

8am | Worship Service | Mt. Moriah Baptist Church |Friends of the Carlos Dunlap Foundation are invited to a day of worship as the final event of Carlos Cares Weekend.

“For us, this weekend will be a homecoming celebration,” said Dr. Diana Ross-Jackson, Executive Director. “We’re always excited to join [Carlos] on and off the field! “

As the signature event of Carlos Cares Weekend, Art + Sole, will be a unique black-tie event with a casual twist (sneakers) and artwork from regional Gullah Geechee artists. Art + Sole will also recognize the inaugural recipients of the Hats off Award who’ve worked alongside the foundation to better serve the community. In honor of the late Carlos Dunlap Sr., the award will be presented to

  • David Aylor Law Firm (Sponsor of the Year)
  •  Shakeima Clark Chatman (Philanthropist of the Year
  •  Alise Jeter (Youth Entrepreneur of the Year)
  •  Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church (Community Partner of the Year)

“‘Art +Sole’ will be a very special occasion. This event will not only add to the three-day experience, it will shed light on our mission and vision,” Dr. Ross-Jackson added.
