Plus Size Fashion Designer to Launch First Collection ‘Because of the Internet’

[Charleston/SC-Mar.12] While designing baseball jerseys, graphic shirts, and a Kanye West custom fabric dress, Aysha Meadows, of Charleston, quickly realized that her first collection of plus size women’s clothing line was inspired by the internet.

 “Because of the Internet”, is the Spring/Summer collection from Fat Medusa, a new street wear brand designed specifically for women sizes 12 to 22.

 “You will find an eclectic group of designs that are drawn from my inspirations to the things that I see via social media such as Tumblr or Instagram,” said Meadows. “I felt compelled to re-create.”

 “Because of the Internet”, will be showcased on Wednesday, March 19 at Wasabi’s of Charleston during “Curvy in the City.” Hosted by Johnny Caldwell, “Curvy in the City” is the official Launch Party/ Pop Up Shop for Fat Medusa.

 “I am so hype to be hosting ‘Curvy in the City’”, Caldwell expressed. “It’s going to be a night of fashion and fun. Fat Medusa has some awesome pieces and she’s just getting started.”

 Beginning at 8 p.m., party goers can meet the designer and shop the collection. “Curvy in the City” will also recognize the Jenkins Institute of Charleston for its continuous service and care to orphans throughout the Low Country.

 March 19, will also mark the second day of Charleston Fashion Week. “Curvy in the City”, is an unofficial event, but the 25-year-old designer is excited to introduce Fat Medusa during one of the most premier fashion weeks in North America. She goes further to describe the brand as fashion-forward, sexy and inspirational.

“Curvy in the City” is a free event. Wasabi’s will offer drink specials and a sushi buffet for $10. Guest must be 21 and older with a valid id.
