A team of Charleston creatives will distribute school supplies during a celebration for teachers.
[Charleston, South Carolina] A school supply drive for tri-county teachers will end on Monday, August 19 with a special event called The Teacher’s Lounge.
“Due to many educators across our state being faced with severe budget cuts and lack of funding to purchase necessary supplies, the ‘Teacher’s Lounge’ has been established,” says Marvis J. President, event co-host.
President and a team of Charleston creatives will host The Teacher’s Lounge from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Republic Garden & Lounge. The two-hour event will feature a back to school celebration, live entertainment, happy hour, networking, and a school-supply distribution.
“In our efforts to alleviate this burdensome issue, we hope that ‘The Teachers’ Lounge’ will be a source of relief in making a profound impact on educators, students, and their overall learning experience,” he added.
Twenty-five (pre-registered) teachers will receive a bag stuffed with supplies to include: Hand soap/sanitizer Kleenex, Clorox wipes, dry erase markers, pencils, papers, and more.
Registration for Teacher’s Lounge is now opened at BTSTeachersLounge.eventbrite.com; for more information about the event and/or to donate school supplies, email pr@tawanatee.com. Republic Garden & Lounge is located at 462 King Street.
